Voci Stupende visits Stroud

Voci Stupende began 2017 with enthusiastic responses and rave reviews after singing for Opera by the Lake in Tuncurry in March to a crowd of over 700 patrons. The troupe is now looking forward to visiting Barrington on Saturday 26th Aug 2.30pm and returning to Stroud 27th Aug 2.00pm.

These young singers are being widely recognized for their musicality and professionalism everywhere they travel. Voci Stupende was incorporated in 2013 with the aim of giving audiences the enviable opportunity to hear opera singers emerging from our national conservatoriums before they take their talent away to the opera houses of America and Europe. Australian artists have an excellent reputation at an international level. Many years of training are required of them, not only in voice but also in languages, acting ,movement and stage craft. When you reward yourself with a ticket to one of their recitals you hear the results.

As a project Voci Stupende continues to retain new singers, MC’s and accompanists so that over 40 past, current and prospective artists are now listed with Voci Stupende. The number continues to grow. Hugh and Jane Fraser are the principal driving force behind Voci Stupende and are delighted to have organized over 35 recitals. It is a voluntary job on their part, but one which gives great satisfaction, especially when ongoing performance opportunities stem from word of mouth and the endorsement of their audiences. Witnessing the journey of young singers from conservatoriums to the world stage is immensely rewarding and they hope to assist them on that path.

The weekend will involve new and seasoned Voci Stupende singers. Featured artists  include Clare Richards, bringing  you the dramatic Ebben Ne’ Andro Lontana from Catalani’s La Wally and a poignant love duet from Verdi’s La Traviata with tenor, Kaine Hayward. Jared Lillehagen(baritone) will present the popular Lilly's Eyes duet with Kaine Hayward from The Secret Garden. He will also play the part of the powerful Toreador from Bizet’s Carmen.

Georgia Melville and Victoria Hodgkinson make their debut’s with Voci Stupende. Georgia Melville will sing Mozart’s Laudate Dominum with ensemble backing and Victoria Hodgkinson presents the heartbreaking Sposa son disprezzate from Vivaldi’s Bajarzet. Together they sing the eternally lovely Barcarolle from Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman. Katherine Allen sings the Flower Duet from Delibes Lakme with Victoria Hodgkinson and does the solo Lascia ch’io pianga from Handel’s Rinaldo which may make you weep as the music conveys a story of incarceration, abandonment and grief. There are just a few of the superlative pieces you can expect in a recital spanning several hours.

Tickets go online to www.vocistupende.com or from The Stroud Pharmacy or The Gloucester Health Foods.
